— OUR APPROACH

More Than Machines

At J&J Therapy, we don't believe in plugging you into a device and leaving the room. Every modality we use — from ultrasound to compression therapy — is applied as part of a broader, hands-on treatment plan.

Our HCPC-registered physiotherapist and clinical massage therapists choose the right technology at the right moment in your session, blending it with skilled manual techniques for results that standalone treatments can't match.

Clinical Devices We Use

Each device plays a specific role in your recovery — reducing pain, easing swelling, or accelerating tissue repair.

Lighter legs, less swelling, faster recovery

Pneumatic Compression Therapy

Revive Air Compression.png

Specialised inflatable sleeves wrap around your limbs and apply rhythmic, wave-like pressure — gently squeezing and releasing to boost blood circulation and move excess fluid that has pooled in the limbs. As a result, swelling is reduced and fresh, oxygen-rich blood reaches your muscles more effectively. The treatment is excellent for improving lymphatic flow, easing heavy or fatigued legs, and managing conditions like lymphoedema. It's also popular for speeding up muscle recovery after intense exercise, helping to flush out metabolic waste and bring in nutrients for healing.

01 — RECOVERY

What to Expect at J&J Therapy

We typically provide pneumatic compression therapy after your main session, giving you an added recovery boost before you go home. Following your massage or physiotherapy treatment, you'll be comfortably fitted with the compression sleeves and can simply unwind while the device works through gentle pressure cycles — further relaxing your muscles and reducing any remaining swelling.

This is an advanced recovery method not commonly available at most clinics, but we include it to ensure you leave feeling lighter, refreshed, and less sore. Our trained staff monitors the process and adjusts the pressure to suit your comfort, so you can fully enjoy the benefits in a completely safe environment.

Sound waves that reach where hands can't

Therapeutic Ultrasound

Ultrasound.png

A handheld probe delivers high-frequency sound waves deep into injured tissues, creating gentle vibrations and a soothing warmth. This boosts blood circulation to the area, bringing more oxygen and nutrients to help repair damaged tissues and reduce swelling. It also helps relax tight muscles and ease stiffness or spasms. Thanks to these effects, ultrasound is widely used for soft-tissue injuries like tendonitis, muscle strains or ligament sprains, and to alleviate deep muscle or joint pain.

02 — DEEP HEALING

What Makes Our Ultrasound Different

At J&J Therapy, ultrasound is applied during your session as a seamless part of the treatment. We frequently combine therapeutic ultrasound with our manual massage techniques on the same area, enhancing its healing impact. The sound waves work hand-in-hand with skilled hands-on therapy to loosen tissues and relieve pain more effectively.

This integrated approach means you experience relief that is both faster and longer-lasting than ultrasound alone could achieve. Unlike many clinics where ultrasound might be a quick standalone procedure, we use it as one component of a broader, personalised plan — always guided by our expert team to target exactly where you need it most for maximum benefit.

Best for: Tendonitis, muscle strains, ligament sprains, and deep joint or muscle pain. Applied during your session to enhance hands-on treatment.

Block pain signals, boost natural endorphins

TENS Therapy

TENS machine.png

TENS therapy involves a small device that sends mild electrical pulses through soft pads placed on your skin. These gentle impulses stimulate your nerves in a way that helps block pain signals from reaching the brain. At the same time, TENS encourages the release of endorphins — your body's natural painkillers — to further reduce discomfort. The sensation is often described as a light tingling or buzzing feeling, which many people find quite soothing. TENS is a safe, drug-free method for managing both chronic and acute conditions.

03 — PAIN RELIEF

How We Use TENS at J&J Therapy

We typically apply TENS after your main hands-on treatment, as a comforting add-on to enhance your recovery. Once we've finished working on your muscles and joints with massage and any exercises, you can simply lie back and relax with TENS pads positioned on the area that needs relief while the gentle pulses do their work.

This post-session electrotherapy helps maintain the pain relief you've gained from treatment, keeps muscle tension at bay, and promotes further circulation — all while you rest. Unlike many providers who use TENS in isolation, we integrate it into your care under professional guidance for maximum benefit, leaving you feeling more comfortable and ensuring the pain-relieving effects continue after you leave.

Best for: Chronic back or neck pain, arthritic joints, and muscle aches. Applied after your main treatment as a soothing finishing touch.
